United Methodists affirm that all children, youth and vulnerable adults have the right to safe sanctuary. Therefore, we the members of Christ United Methodist Church in Portage are determined to provide an environment in which these persons are safe from neglect or abuse. The provisions of safe sanctuary applies to all staff and volunteers, clergy or lay, who have direct or indirect contact with children or youth in conference and/or district sponsored events.
The West Ohio Annual Conference has established a Safe Sanctuaries® Task Force which is committed to assisting every church and worshipping congregation in implementing a policy to establish procedural requirements for the safety and protection of children, youth and vulnerable adults.
