Batopilas

[Flowers 1]

Batopilas is a pretty little town. We stayed here two nights.

Batopilas was founded in 1709 when silver was discovered in the region. It is not a mining town any longer. These shots of November flowers will have to take the place of silver.

[Batopilas River]

The Batopilas River flows around the town. When you don't have anything else to do, you can always have a "cross the river" challenge match. Kathleen and Darrell demonstrate advanced techniques below.

[Balloons 1]

A bunch of Utah Trailriders were already in Batopilas when we arrived. They had brought hundreds of balloons to give away to the kids.

The party started at sunset. Somehow our Tom (left) became an official balloon tier-upper.

The taller girl on the right loved to have her picture taken. She got Kathleen to take her picture one more time by claiming that the other girl (whom she had dragged over) had not had her picture taken yet.

[Vic & KLR]

Vic, left, is standing outside of our hotel, getting ready for a good day's ride. Tom, on the other hand, prefers to practice his almost non-existent Spanish on the local population.
