[where we're heading]
59 km to Col de l'Iseran
Now we are heading for Col de l'Iseran, the second highest pass in the Alps at 2764 m.

[Col de l'Iseran]
Col de l'Iseran

Col de l'Iseran is on top of the world. From here it's a short jaunt to Val d'Isére, where we'll spend the night. BTW, this pass is just a bit southeast of Val d'Isére on the map.

Before we leave Col de l'Iseran we might as well check the luggage.

[Col du Grand St. Bernard]
Col du Grand St. Bernard

From Val d'Isére we rode to Chamonix via Col du Grand St. Bernard. You can skip this pass and take a tunnel through the mountain—but we don't need no stinkin' tunnels! Col du Grand St. Bernard is on the border of Italy and Switzerland. (North of Aosta, Italy, on the map.)

The buildings you see are in Italy. The picture was taken from Switzerland. Kathleen and I ate a quick lunch up here. The rest of our bunch suffered excrutiatingly slow service down there.
