Where is the best place to start. A bar, right?
OK, this is it. The bar at the Best Western - Irazu. We all met here.
Free drinks from 5-6 PM. |
The Memphis gang: Mike, Amy, Tim, Larue, Tripp, and Tom. But get me straight —
they didn't all sleep in the same room! |
Where the adventure really starts.
The office of MotoAdventures. |
Now we are riding. Whoops! Well, we were riding. |
Which way now? |
Our first night's destination, the Volcan Turrialba Lodge.
That's Larry Larrabure, our peerless leader, with the bikes. |
Pictures of Volcano Turrialba, in the afternoon and at sunset.
That's Vic and Amy in the foreground. |
The start of the route up to Volcano Turriabla.
On Larry's advice, Vic waited right here. Not everyone else made it to the top. |
Now and then we had a bit of trouble. Vic is trying to
figure out how Larry got this far with no rear wheel. |
Costa Rica is extremely mountainous. The countryside is
gorgeous. These three scenes will give you a idea of what it is like. |
We've made it to Jacó Beach, on the Pacific Ocean. Larue, Tim, Tripp, and Mike would be
riding on the surf — but they forgot to bring their boards. |
On our rest day at Jacó Beach, we decided to swing through the jungle.
Tripp demonstrates the proper form. |
Marco drove the support van and kept the bikes in good repair. |
Now we are back in San José, at
MotoAdventures headquarters again.
It has been a fascinating week.
