This workshop will cover the political, administrative and operational aspects of emergency management at the local, state and national levels. The operational aspects portion of the class will result in certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in ICS-100, ICS-200 and IS-700 for those students who pass applicable on-line examinations. These three certifications are the foundation of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) curriculum for local, state and federal government officials. The political and administrative aspects involve the completion of in-class case studies on the Katrina disaster, the 9/11 terrorist attack on New York, the 1995 Chicago Heat Wave, Fire Protection Options in Phoenix, and the Norfolk EMS and Fire Service Problems.

Course Requirements:

1. Recommended completion of various NIMS on-line courses.
