State Band Contest
Because the Freshman and Symphonic Bands each received Superior ratings at the
District Band Contest, they will be participating in the State Band Contest on the
weekend of April 27/28. The dates and times are now available for this event. The
contest will be held at Lima/Shawnee High School in Lima. Check the schedule below
to determine which day and time your child's band will be performing. Spectators are
welcome and encouraged to attend. Participating in this event is a great honor and
your children have been working hard to prepare for it. Plan to show your support if
at all possible. Performance times are below.

Band Photos
The Awards Banquet Committee is putting together a special slide show to be presented
during the Band Banquet on May 24th. If you have any pictures of the band that were
taken during this school year, please contact Barb Asmus (352-4903) or Peg McClanahan
(354-3451). They would like to have as many pictures as possible. Please look through
your albums and let us share some of your memories with the rest of the band family.
Any pictures from football games, parades, Paris or other band activities would be
appreciated. (The pictures will be scanned and returned to you.)
Senior Parents:
As your children graduate, don't miss the opportunity to continue helping out the band
(and your own pocketbook). You can use food certificates to purchase graduation party
food and supplies or to give as gifts. Even after your child completes his/her band
experience, you can still purchase gift certificates on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:00
PM and on Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Brechmacher home. Don't
forget that you will receive 5% credit on all certificates you purchase. Each
time you have earned $100 credit for the band (by purchasing $2000 in certificates),
you will be awarded a bonus $25 gift certificate. (For students remaining in band, a
$25 credit to the Band Store or a $25 credit toward your fall uniform fees will be
offered, as well.) This is a great opportunity to repay the band program that has
served your children so well.
Pops Concert
The Spring Pops Concert will be in Kobacher Hall at BGSU on May 15th. The ticket price
has not been set yet, but please mark your calendars. This is the last concert of the
year, and you won't want to miss it.
Toledo Youth Orchestra
Are you looking for an enjoyable and unique way to spend a Sunday afternoon? The Toledo
Youth Orchestra will be performing May 20th at 3:00 pm in the Toledo Museum of Art
Peristyle. As one of their numbers, Aaron Kennell will be performing a trombone
solo titled, 'Concertino" by David, accompanied by the TYO. The concert is free. The
following BGHS band members are also in the orchestra: Eric Boswell, Todd Burnap, Matt
Kantorski and Peter McClanahan.
Band Banquet
Enclosed is a separate invitation to the annual Band Awards Banquet.
This is a special evening for all involved so please plan to attend on May 24th. If you
are available to help set up tables/chairs prior to the event or are willing to help clean
up after the event, please contact Sandy Stoots (686-7111).
Memorial Day Parades
Don't forget about the Memorial Day parades in Bowling Green and Custar on May 28th.
Participation in these events is considered mandatory unless special arrangements are
made with a director in advance.
