Coupon Book Sale ends Friday, Sept. 14th.
Money for coupon book sales is beginning to trickle in. We are hoping that each student
will be able to sell 8 or more books toward our fundraising efforts.
The top three sellers will get two tickets, each to Cedar Point. Winners will be decided
based on dollars collected as of Friday, Sept. 14th. Any outstanding money or books will
not be counted towards the prize.
We hope that all books will be sold, but if you have any extras, please have your student
turn them in before school begins in the band room. We have to account for every book,
sold or unsold.
If you and your student are interested in selling books at Kroger or the Ice Cream Machine
on Poe, let Scott or Denise know and we will try to arrange something for you.
WHY WE FUNDRAISE...
For many of us who belong to various organizations, we know that fundraising is a necessary
evil. The money that we raise each year for the band program is used to help maintain,
clean and replace uniforms and equipment. This includes marching band and formal wear used
during concert band season. Money that we raise is also used for music purchases, our
concert and marching band programs, student awards and recognitions throughout the year,
leadership training for students and the annual banquet.
Regarding marching band uniforms, it is estimated that the life of a band uniform is about
7 to 10 years. We have had many of our uniforms for almost 20 years. Last year, we did
allocate some money to begin a replacement program of our uniforms which number over 200!
We replaced 140 hats and 40 coats and pants at a cost of $20,000. We hope to replace more
in the next couple of years.
Band is a great organization and a good learning experience for our youth. We appreciate
the work, both financial and volunteer time, that each one of our families does to help
support, the band program and its directors!
Thank you!
UNIFORM FEE...
A reminder for each family to send in your uniform fee of $50. There is a box in the
band room for students to turn it in. This money goes toward maintaining and cleaning
of the band uniforms. It does not cover the entire cost and that is another reason why
we fundraise.
