Chris Cakes Pancake Group Flips Again for the Band
Calling all helpful band students. The Chris Cakes Pancake Breakfast committee is looking
for some eager workers to help with this year’s band fundraiser on August 20th and 21st.
The two shifts available are: 7am-10am (for you early risers) and 10am-1:00pm (for you late
snoozers or church-goers). The Band Boosters also need our Band family and anyone else who
is hungry to come out and support our Marching Bobcats over these two days. So grab your
neighbor and do your part to help. You will just flip over the opportunity to be a part of
this tasty fundraiser. Student volunteers may call Mr. or Mrs. David Codding at 419-352-5570
to schedule a time to help.
Kroger and Meijer
Mission: To have every band family participate with Kroger and Meijer fundraisers.
Goal: To eliminate one or more “selling” fundraisers
Yes, the band still participates with Kroger and Meijer fundraising programs.
The band does this year round, even when it isn’t a trip year. The band has being doing this
for over 10 years now. I personally would like to see 100% participation from all band
families in either one or both of the Kroger or Meijer programs. We all shop at Kroger and/or
Meijer at some time or another. Why not earn money just doing your everyday shopping? This is
a win-win situation for everyone. The band earns the funding it needs and you don’t need to ask
co-workers to purchase something. Please consider participating and call me if you have questions
about either Kroger or Meijer programs.

Why should I participate? The band has many expenses and funding from the school board is not
sufficient to cover all of them. The band boosters help meet those needs. The boosters purchase
and maintain both marching and concert uniforms; purchase music and instruments; pay competition
fees; provide clinicians for students; purchase year end awards, etc.
What is the Kroger program? Purchase a reloadable gift card with an initial value of $5.00.
Reload the card at Kroger and earn 5% for the band general fund, continue to reload the card
and each time earn 5%. (Kroger is discontinuing the paper certificates sometime this fall.)
Where do I get a card? Purchase a card from Anne Deutschman. Our home is at 911 N
Wintergarden. Hours are:
- Wed evenings, 6:30-7:30 pm
- Sat mornings, 10:00-11:00 am
You can also contact me at 419-354-3014 or jakgs@dacor.net
to arrange a different time. Denise Kisabeth is also helping with this program, her number is
419-354-0804.
What’s next? Take your card to Kroger and load any amount, up to $500. Use cash, check,
or credit card (yes, your credit card and earn your points at the same time).
Where at Kroger do I load this? You can load your card in the cashier line. Tell the cashier,
before she/he starts ringing up your groceries, that you need to load your card. You can also
load the card at the service counter. Loading a card must be done in a separate transaction from
paying for the groceries.
How do I know how much is on the card? At the bottom of each receipt, your card balance will be
listed. You can also call Kroger at the number on the back of the card.
Can I use it at the gas station and pharmacy? Yes, please do!! If using it at the gas
station, select Outside Credit, then insert the card, the pump will show how much is on the card,
finally pump the gas. Push the Gift Card Balance button to see how much is left on the card.
What if I lose the card or can’t reload it for technical reasons? Contact Anne Deutschman
if your card is lost, the balance can be transferred to a new card. If a card cannot be reloaded
(it might be demagnetized, etc), contact Anne to have any balances transferred to a new card. A
card purchased at Kroger cannot be linked to the band boosters.
Can I use these for gifts? Yes, purchase a card and load at Kroger, give to all those hard
to buy-for-people.
Have multiple drivers in your family? Buy more than one card and give to each driver.
Have family members or friends who shop at Kroger? Maybe you know other people who shop at
Kroger and are willing to help – if so, get them a card as well. The band welcomes all shoppers.
Okay, what about Meijer’s program? The band is registered with Meijer’s Community Rewards
program. In this program, you sign up and receive a card you show each time you shop at Meijer.
The amount earned is based on how much you spend each month. Spend between $100-399 and earn 1%;
between $400-799, earn 2%; between $800-2000, earn 4%. You will get 3 cards when you sign up, so
pass those cards out to your family members and increase your shopping power.
How do I sign up? You can pick up an application form from Anne Deutschman or go the
Meijer website, www.meijer.com/rewards and fill out
the on-line application. When completing the application, you will need to supply the band’s
organization number: 951335. Cards will be sent to your home address.
Already signed up for Meijer for another organization? You can add the band to your
existing rewards card, Meijer will split your earns between the other organization. You can also
switch all earnings to the band if you wish. Go online at the Meijer website to do this.
Can I use the Meijer card at the pharmacy and gas station? The card works with pharmacy
purchases, but not the gas station. Meijer also excludes services such as postage, lottery, and
on-line purchases.
