Friends & Family Band ! The BGHS Concert Band is hosting the 2nd annual Friends & Family Band, in our own concert, May 4, 2003, 3:00 PM in the Small Gym. Any and all parents, grandparents, post-high school age siblings or friends from the community are welcome to participate. Your student does NOT have to be in the Concert Band; we welcome as many interested adults as possible. We will prepare 4 songs with the "Friends Band", including patriotic selections. We hope some of you still have instruments, but we can help you in some situations. The schedule is:

3:00 PM concert Last year we had a great response and we hope to duplicate that this year! Please contact Mrs. Hann as soon as possible, so that she can get music to you. All instruments are welcome - if you played during some or all of high school, you should be able to "keep up"! Cookie Dough Sale The cookie dough sale is over and by the time you receive this newsletter all the orders should have been picked up at the warehouse. Some extra items will be available and more can be ordered if necessary, so if anyone is interested in purchasing additional tubs you can contact Mike Leestma at 419-352-8124. OMEA State Finals The Freshman and Symphonic Bands have advanced to the OMEA State Finals to be held at the Lima Shawnee High School on May 2 and 3, 2003. The performances are scheduled as follows:
Saturday, May 3, 2003 -- 9:00 AM Freshman Band Symphonic Band Practice To help get ready for the OMEA State Finals a rehearsal date for the Symphonic Band has been set for Wednesday, April 30, 2003. Uniforms Many thanks to those parents who have called and/or written to verify their payments of uniform cleaning. We did miss a few that already were paid; in many cases the payments now have come in - thank you! We are just about ready to clean our entire inventory; if you know that your payment is outstanding, please remit. Checks should be made to: BGHS Band Boosters. Gift Certificates For those of you who shop at either Kroger or Meijer, why not do it with gift certificates? This helps out the band and costs you nothing extra. Here’s how it works: You purchase gift certificates from the band in $25 increments and use them at any Kroger or Meijer for your everyday purchases. You’re not out anything and the band earns 5% off of each certificate sold. Everybody wins! Certificates are available at the Deutschman residence, 911 N. Wintergarden Rd, on:
Saturdays, 10:00-11:00 am This is an easy fundraiser. All it takes is a little advance planning to buy certificates before you shop. So start now and get a supply on hand. Newsletter by Email ? To help reduce postage and paper costs, we have started to send this newsletter via email. Newsletters are also being posted on the web site. Besides a photo gallery there is also an updated calendar of events and a full schedule for the year. If you have photos or other items to share, you may give them to any executive board member or email them to bghsband@dacor.net.
