New Schedule for Certificates
For those of you who shop at either Kroger or Meijer on a regular basis, why not do it with
a gift certificate? This helps out the band and doesn’t cost you anything extra.
Here’s how it works: You purchase one or more gift certificates for $25 each, and spend them
at Kroger or Meijer just like regular money. You’re not out anything and the band earns 5% off
of each certificate sold. Everybody wins.
Certificates are available at the Deutschman residence, 911 N. Wintergarden Rd, at the
following schedule:
| | Sat. | 10:00-11:00 am |
| | Tue. | 6:30-7:30 pm |
Starting in November the schedule will change to:
| | Sat. | 10:00-11:00 am |
| | Wed. | 6:30-7:30 pm |
This is an easy fundraiser. All it takes is a little advance planning to buy certificates
before you shop. So start now and get a supply on hand.

The band web site (home.dacor.net/bghsband) is being updated with new photos for the 2002-2003
school year. There are a lot of new photos to be scanned and added so keep checking back.

Bobcat Blankets
The BG Bobcat blankets have arrived. If you haven’t seen one yet, they are red nylon
-water repellent– with our logo on one side, and gray fleece on the reverse.
The logo has Bowling Green Bobcats in large letters with a paw print in the middle.
The cost is $35 and they are well worth it.
If you are interested in a blanket, please contact Shirlee Bostdorff at 419-352-3381 or
sbost@wcnet.org.
Thank You
Thanks to all the volunteers that helped during home football games in the concession
stands. We really appreciated all the help and the volunteers were great. Hope to see
you next year.
Also to all of you that sent cards, prayers and what ever else you may have done for Ashley.
It is great to know that the band family is "Family". Thanks again.
Jim, Terri & Ashley Blackford
Concert Band Uniforms
Parents of new and returning students are asked read and observe the information regarding
attire for all three concert bands.
As in the past, students will need to provide some specific clothing items. Please be
watching for upcoming news.
New Policies for Band Store
In an effort to reduce the amount of money owed to the band store and encourage a timely
settlement of student accounts, a new set of rules has been approved by the Band Executive
Board concerning band store charges.
As of September 25, 2002 the following rules have been instituted:
- Students will now have two weeks to pay debts, beginning from the date they charged.
(This includes weekends). After this two-week period, students will not be able to charge
items at the store until full payment is made. Purchases can still be made with cash or
check.
- Students owing more than fifteen dollars ($15) to the band store will lose their ability
to purchase items as well.
- Exceptions will always be made for reeds.
- Exceptions for gloves, lyres, flip-folders, etc., will be made for performances only.
- Students with debts carried over from the previous school year will not be able to use
the store until the debts are settled.
These rules will be reviewed and revised as necessary by the Band Executive Board to insure
the smooth and continued operation of the band store.
Congratulations to . . .
Janice Frisch, Bobcat Band President, for being named the BGHS October Student of
the Month!
Ashleigh Christensen, Megan Corrigan, Janice Frisch, Melissa Colcord,
Karen Deutschman, and Matt Smith for being selected to represent Bowling Green
High School at the first Capital University/ Stanton's Sheet Music Band Music Reading Clinic
to be held at Capital University, Columbus OH, on November 8 & 9. Featured composers for the
weekend will be Robert W. Smith, James Swearingen, and Barry Kopetz. Dr. Kopetz, Director of
Bands at Capital, was formerly with the BGSU College of Musical Arts as Assistant Band Director.
This will be a great opportunity for these young musicians!
