Executive Band Board
The BG Executive Band Board is in the process of nominating parents of current
freshmen to fill four positions that will be vacated by the senior parents. All
parents of freshmen band members (whose son or daughter will continue with the
Bobcat Band during the 2001 – 2002 school year) are eligible to be nominated.
Band parents that would like to nominate themselves or other band parents should
call: Dale Abell at 352-2292 before March 15, 2001
Between mid March and mid-April, current board members will contact all nominees
to explain the election process and duties of members of the Bobcat Band Boosters
Executive Board. We will vote for new members at the April board meeting and newly
elected board members will be introduced at the Band Banquet in May.
Members of the Executive Board organize and implement various Bobcat Band activities
– especially fundraising. This is an ongoing process – not just in the years when a
large trip is planned. Board members are involved in committees such as Concession stand,
Uniforms, Chaperones, Communications, and Recognition Banquet, as well as additional
select committees that are necessary throughout the year.
Members serve three-year terms. There are 12 members of the board, who represent 12
different families. Members may be either a couple or an individual (one vote per
family, however). Monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (including
summer). The new members’ terms begin at the June meeting.
The board is not all work, however. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet some
enthusiastic and fun people who share a common goal – to make our children’s Bobcat
Band experience the best it can be.
Thanks for considering this opportunity. Please call Dale Abell at 352-2292 if you have
questions about board activities.

in the band room on Tues, March 20 @ 7:30. Please plan to attend. Your input will help
improve the next trip.
More Paris Trip Thanks
-
From all visitors to the Band website… Thanks to Dale, Natalie and Katie
Abell for all the time they spent taking photos during the Paris trip. Not only
did they use their time to take the pictures, but also to track down the names of
students, write captions and transmit them to Jay, our website designer. In
addition, thanks go to DorothyAnne Strange and Peg McClanahan for providing
additional photo coverage after returning home. (Anyone interested in posting
their pictures on the website can do so by contacting Peg McClanahan @ 354-3451
or peg@wcnet.org

From all families of travelers… Thanks to all chaperones who willingly spent
their time taking care of our precious kids.
Food Certificates
Food certificates are still available on available on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:00 PM
and on Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Brechmacher home and at all band
functions. Don't forget that you will receive 5% credit on all certificates you purchase.
Each time you have earned $100 credit for the band (by purchasing $2000 in certificates),
you will be awarded a $25 gift certificate, a $25 credit to the Band Store, or a $25
credit toward your fall uniform fees. This is a great opportunity to help the band, as
well as yourselves, so don't stop selling to your family and friends.
Pork-a-leans
There are still a few pork-a-lean patties left to purchase. They are packaged in
20-quarter lb. patties/box and each box is only $15. (That's only $3/lb for ready-made
patties that come from high quality local pork.) Call Lisa or Scott Shuler (353-7475)
to make arrangements to pick up your box(es). These are great to keep in the freezer
and to have on hand when spring roles around and you want to use the grill.
New Student Teachers
Hello! My name is GRAHAM RAULERSON, and I'm student teaching with the BGHS Bands this
semester. I grew up in Decorah, Iowa and came to Bowling Green State University to study
music education. Although I'm a horn player, I'm enjoying working with all kinds of
students. I want to meet as many of you as I can so that I might better serve the program
and students. If you run into me, please introduce yourself. I look forward to seeing you
at the next band function!
"Hello! My name is KATIE HALLER!" I am currently a BGSU student teacher from Dayton.
Although my main focuses have been music education and the trombone, I have a minor in
English education. Because of this, I will be certified to teach both music and English.
I look forward to opportunities to meet you as I work with the band students, so feel
free to introduce yourselves to me at the next band event.
Bobcat Band Website
The website is continually being updated with various band photos. The latest photos
include the mid-winter concert, as well as the recent band party, held on Feb. 16th.
