FOOTBALL FRIDAY - BAND PARENT NIGHT
This Friday night, October 20, 2006, is our last HOME football game of the season
and BAND PARENT night. All band parents and extended families are cordially invited
to attend and be recognized for their role in the success of the Bobcat Band!
Come early for the Pre-Game show where all band parents will be given a chance to
"stand and be recognized!" and seniors and their parents will be recognized individually.
Also, dress warm and be prepared to stay to 'till the very end and enjoy a special joint
Post-Game performance with Anthony Wayne Marching Band.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
As the football season draws to a close, a huge" THANK YOU" to all Band Parents who
have helped with uniforms, chaperoning and working the Concession Stands.
MARCHING BAND CONCERT
Be sure to mark your calendars and join us for the annual Marching Band Concert on
Wednesday, October 25th at 7:30pm in the BGHS Gym.
PHOTOS
Check out the Band Website for NEW 2006 - 2007 photos !!! If you have photos of the
band that you'd like to share, send them via email to bghsband@dacor.net along with
a description (if possible) of when and where they were taken and we'll post them on
the web site.
KROGER AND MEIJER CARDS
Such an easy way to raise funds for the Band without having to sell a thing!!! The more
everyone uses these programs, the more the Band earns and the less other selling fund
raisers are needed. Remember these work at stores through out the country, so get one
for family members who shop at Krogers or Meijers in other cities. It is great for
college students!!! Encourage friends and neighbors to use them as well. Anne Deutschman
will be available at the Marching Band Concert with information and cards. Or you can
contact Anne at 419-354-3014 or jakgs@dacor.net for additional information.
Sign up for Meijer Community Rewards at www.meijer.com using the BGHS Bobcat Band code
951335. What you earn is based on how much you spend each month. Purchase a Kroger gift
card through the Band, preloaded with $5 and load it each time you shop at Kroger. Kroger
sends the band 5% for each reload. Works at the gas station, too!
This is a great way to earn money for the band just doing your normal shopping.
WHY FUND RAISING?
Ever wonder where the dollars go that are raised?
Every year there are expenses associated with the Bobcat Band and its +/190
student musicians. Be it drycleaning and repair/replacement/purchase bills for
Marching Uniforms and Concert Formal Wear, the cost of postage and mailing supplies,
continuing Spirit and Tradition student activities, keeping the Band Store stocked
with supplies, paying the entry fees for Solo and Ensemble Competition, providing
annual student awards and recognition, Banquet expenses at the end of the year,
purchasing new equipment, or the costs associated with each and every concert; all
of this is supported by the funds raised.
The Band Booster Executive Board knows that fund raising can be frustrating for
numerous reasons. Knowing that the Band does not receive the total purchase price
from a fund raising item is one. (Some families chose to instead make a direct
donation, thus guaranteeing that the total amount goes directly to supporting the
students). Knowing that alot of our families have children in multiple activities,
that all seem to be selling something at the same time, is another. This is why we
continually look at ways to meet our financial responsibility to the students and
families of the Bobcat Band that do not require direct selling and provide the
greatest return, such as the Pancake Breakfast, the Concession Stand, the Meijers
Rewards Program, and the Kroger Cards. We truly appreciate the current Band Families,
the Band Alums and their families that continue to support these activities and the
Bobcat Band!
